Yeah ... let’s write about BDSM! Leather, bondage, spanking ... not really.
Well, the fun never ends in Southern California. There’s been a storm whipping up monster waves up and down the coast — the surfers are loving it, mostly. Until they need to be rescued — and now the rains will arrive Friday and cause mudslides in the recent burn areas. Not to mention flooding.
Today is also the 66th anniversary of Pearl Harbor. Over 2,400 Americans died that day as the Japanese successfully accomplished the biggest, most daring sneak attack in history. They controlled the Pacific Ocean for about six months after that, drew the United States into World War II making our country the most powerful in the world. We still are. And still, after 62 years, the only nation to have used nuclear weapons in war.
Makes one wonder how the rest of the world feels about the United States dictating the terms concerning nuclear proliferation. Well, not really. Most nations resent it, at least those nations that already have nuclear weapons or have designs on making a bomb.
Don’t know which way to go with this. My original thought was about the recent intelligence report that says the Iranians halted their nuclear weapons program four years ago. Kinda takes the rattle out of the sabers. For Bush and company. But, he’s still rattling. Ahmadinejad has to be laughing hysterically right about now. Bush is without question the worst president in our history. Again, in just five short years, he’s brought us to the brink of war over false information. And he’s still pushing for war.
Geez … wish the Democrats had a spine …
The other thought was this: that we in the United States have an arrogant attitude of entitlement and that irks the rest of the planet. It irks me when I encounter people here who think they can skip in line, especially when I’m waiting in line to get on the freeway and some dickhead comes driving up from the left and starts edging his big SUV between me and the vehicle in front of mine just because he (or she) didn’t want to wait like the rest of us.
Was watching a program on Court TV about mad mobs waiting for the doors to open at stores on Black Friday and for special sales. It was called “Extreme Shopping” I think. That’s the Christmas spirit! People beat each other up over low-priced televisions, game systems, computers, electronic devices of all types, clothes, toys and dolls; watching two mothers throwing punches over a doll — A FUCKING DOLL! — is entertaining, but it’s embarrassing. We’re adults in the richest nation on Earth and we fight over dolls?
We carry that attitude past our borders too. When I was stationed in Okinawa it was always shocking when I’d see my fellow Americans make decisions to do things based on the idea that “we’re Americans” as if we owned the planet. It’s especially embarrassing now considering we no longer are the strongest economy on the planet. Ahmadinejad and Iran, along with the little dictator in North Korea could flex their nuclear muscles precisely because of our weakened position. Stuck in a quagmire in Iraq, our military stretched to the breaking point, why not get in the arms race.
Why did Bush start his illegal war in Iraq? Because he wanted to show the world “We’re Americans and we can do whatever we want.” Can’t get that arrogant look of his when Bush landed on the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln stationed just 30 miles off the coast of San Diego. Four and a half years ago. “Mission Accomplished.” Got to remember to watch “Countdown with Keith Olbermann” on MSNBC to see how many days this war has dragged on since the mission was accomplished: 1,681 by my count.
Bush did with his war policy what Americans have been saying for years and now we’re paying the price. We don’t need anyone’s approval, especially from the United Nations. Ever since we mobilized for World War II and created a war machine unparalleled in history, we’ve had the attitude that with American might and power we could do anything.
September 2, 1945 was our crowning moment as the leaders of Japan stepped aboard the U.S.S. Missouri to sign the surrender documents amid the pomp and glory assembled to watch. It was a show. Although other Allied Nations were there to sign the documents, it was an American production. Everyone else was there for window dressing. Since then the American arrogance has ballooned and Bush and company displayed it when they thumbed their noses at the U.N. to start their war in Iraq.

Well, the other nations in the world have rights too, equal to ours and they have no problem expressing that fact now. Look at China gobbling up assets in Africa and elsewhere to compete with the U.S. over oil and other natural resources. And they send us defective and dangerous toys so we can fight over them on Black Friday.
Bank foreclosures are at an all-time high, jobs are leaving the U.S. at a record pace and our standard of living is beginning to crash. The age of American dominance is over.

On a lighter note: My friend Danielle Richardson just started her Cyber Girl Xtra month on the Playboy Cyber Club! She’s excited! The rest of us are … umm … having dirty thoughts and doing naughty things with the pictures and videos! Congratulations Dani! Not bad for a woman who took photos to impress her hubby and then sent them to Playboy on a lark. You’re dominating the month of December my friend! So, hook me up with your mom already!
