First of all, Happy Easter and Spring Equinox to one and all! It is sunny and warm here in San Diego! For those of you who are dealing with snow and cold ... better you than me. Nah ... Just kidding! Soon it will be warm and cozy near you too!
What a week. I caught a bit of Sean Hannity’s show on Faux News the other day when he was talking to former Congressman Jack Kemp (R-NY). But that wasn’t even the biggest news for this humble blog …
All right, all right all right. I haven’t been humble since March 16th, 1996, the date of my first myocardial infarction. Some in the family will tell you with all due sincerity not even then! But I love them nonetheless!
No, the biggest news for this …err … happy blog … was that some of the readers were disappointed there wasn’t at least one hot young model posted in a blatently non-sequetor kind of way. I apologize. We will indeed have at least one in every blog from now on. Just for the heck of it. There are friends among them, a few, and celebrating their friendship is important. Even if they don’t agree with my views. They like me nonetheless!
My friend Roxanne for instance. She’s Playboy’s most featured Special Editions model. If she would like to be my wife, I’d get married!
So, Jack Kemp on Hannity —
Is there any reason to even mention Combs? The show (Hannity & Combs) is all about Hannity’s extreme views.
Anyway, Kemp is on and Hannity kept trying to get the former Congressman to denounce Senator Barack Obama as a racist because of Obama’s former minister. The remarks made by the minister. Hannity’s view being that Obama is guilty (as a racist) by association. But Jack Kemp is a stand up guy.
Most of Kemp’s views are quite alien to mine, but he’s always been a strong advocate of the two-party, but one nation kind of governance and has never been quick to condemn anyone across the aisle. Not to mention, as a politician he knows he has a few embarrassing skeletons in his closet and if plays the finger-pointing game, there will always be three fingers pointing back at him.
He just doesn’t know how to point a finger properly. It’s something I’ve learned from watching television programs with or about Italians. You point with an open hand, all four fingers — and the thumb — pointing directly at whomever you’re berating! Try it! You’ll see, no fingers pointing back at you!
And Kemp was a star of the old American Football League as a San Diego Charger and Buffalo Bill. Which is how he came to be a Republican congressman in an area of New York that was traditionally a Democratic stronghold.
From watching Hannity’s performance on his program the other day, we can deduce the tone of the campaign for the general election should Obama win the nomination: Barack Obama is a racist. The funniest part of it is that the news organizations keep running the one clip of the minister saying the U.S. brought the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, on itself. Hardly a racist comment in the least.
On Thursday the Illinois senator gave an excellent speech concerning race and religion, after the remarks of his former minister were splayed all over every news outlet with either airtime or paper to burn. What was most notable for me was that Obama referred to Jeremiah Wright as his former minister.
The speech will have no effect on the Republican hate machine, which now has red meat for the base. They will paint Obama as a racist who hates White America, a ploy they hope will scare some of the moderate White voters into voting for John McCain — should Obama win the Democratic nomination. And it will work to some extent.
Obama, America’s first African-American candidate with a serious chance to be president, has to work twice as hard and be twice as squeaky clean as any White candidate just because of the color of his skin. Forget that his mother and half his grandparents are white. It’s all about the color of one’s skin and that’s still an ugly reality about America.
He has the working harder part down cold; working harder and smarter than his New York colleague Hillary Clinton. When the Clinton camp was tying up all the “Big Money” donors so no one else could tap their wallets, Obama was going after the little people, like me, asking for donations of five dollars, ten dollars, and if you can afford 25 or even 50 that would be gratefully appreciated. There are literally millions of us out here and Obama has been reaping our support all along, comfortably assured that none of us have come close to reaching the limits set on individual campaign contributions.
But the words of Obama’s former minister will haunt him until either the primaries are over or, if he wins the nomination, November 4 of this year when we vote to elect our next president. Obama didn’t denounce his friend in that speech, or otherwise try to distance himself from the minister. He did denounce Wright’s comments and praise of Louis Farrakhan, but that won’t be enough. Obama will be a racist traitor, guilty by association.
Which brings to mind an Interesting Blog on the Huffington Post. Frank Schaeffer is a former Right Wing Evangelical instigator who denounced his own past in a book titled CRAZY FOR GOD - How I Grew Up As One Of The Elect, Helped Found The Religious Right, And Lived To Take All (Or Almost All) Of It Back His father was evangelical minister Francis Schaeffer, one of the founders of the Religious Right and a proponent of overthrowing the U.S. government because of the Roe v Wade decision (abortion).
In his blog, Schaeffer compares what Wright said to what he and his father said back in the halcyon days of the Religious Right when they got Ronald Reagan elected. Back then, denouncing America got the Schaeffer’s invited to the White House to dine with presidents. Both Wright and the Schaeffers condemned America, but only one — the Black one — is accused of treason. Schaeffer’s reason for condemning America and advocating the violent rebellion against the government was abortion.
In fact, Schaeffer wanted to re-write our Constitution so it would mirror the laws of “God” as found in The Bible. Which meant homosexuals and advocates of women’s rights would be criminals.
Jeremiah Wright condemned America for its racism. So he’s a racist and a traitor. There will be those — in fact there are those — who claim it’s “different” with Jeremiah Wright, but the only real difference is the color of the skin and the political affiliations of the two. The White right wing minister who called for the violent over throw of the U.S. government is a hero, and the Black minister who condemns America is a traitor. The hypocrisy is simply astounding.
Since Dennis Kucinich dropped out of the race I’ve been a Clinton supporter, but truthfully, Obama is a pretty good choice for president too and I’ll have no regrets voting for him come November 4 if he is the party’s nominee. He’s certainly a better choice than John McCain whose only ambition is to be president and continue to over-extend out military in Bush’s illegal war in Iraq.
As for my friends who read this blog and lamented the lack of beautiful women here in the last one, how about photos of Playmate Patrice Hollis, Miss September 2007 and Special Editions model Vilayna LaSalle.
Dammit! They’re HOT!
